Mike Adcock and Paul Jolly have been playing together on and off for over forty years but this is their first duet album, a collection of freely improvised pieces. Mike plays piano throughout while Paul moves between sopranino, soprano and tenor saxophones as well as bass clarinet. The music on Risky Furniture reflects a range of music that has informed the development in the work of both players, at times uncompromisingly atonal, elsewhere lyrical and delightfully melodic. There is rhythmic exuberance but there are also waltzes.
