In the case of darkness was recorded at Yellow Shark Studios in Cheltenham and released in 2009 on 33 Records. It was the first of many collaborations with two musicians I had fairly recently met from Cheltenham, Chris Cundy and Stuart Wilding and also the first time I had played with cellist Beth Porter, who later played on the Wanderlust and Ludwig Variations albums. A good friend from the St Albans days, Graham Goffee played guitar and my son Simon played violin and theremin. Simon also provided invaluable help with mixing the album. The title, 'In the case of darkness', despite its brooding promise, was actually taken from a recorded safety announcement heard on a Ryanair flight.
