about

I very much like the idea of playing in a duo. This is not just because of the sound the two instruments make together, but that when one player stops the sound is cut by half. If both stop at the same time then there's silence until one or both begin playing again. Back in the 1980s I'd played on one side of an LP in a duo with Lol Coxhill and later recorded duo albums with my friends Clive Bell and Sylvia Hallett, but for quite a long time I'd thought I'd like to do an album featuring a series of duets with different people, with me playing accordion on each track. I put the idea to Richard Sanderson and he agreed to put it out on his Linear Obsessional label. Accord was the result. Although the tracks were available for download, if you bought a CD it came in a box with a random mixture of accordion related gifts – maybe a picture, a broken accordion reed or a bit of folded paper from some bellows. Unfortunately only fifty of these individualised CDs were available for purchase, so there are no CDs available for purchase here but you can listen to and download the music.
